About Valmonte

Valmonte is the quiet achiever of the Peninsula. It doesn't have the ocean bluffs of Lunada Bay or the architectural drama of Malaga Cove, but families keep choosing it for a simple reason: it works.

The streets are wide and mostly flat — rare on the Hill — which means kids actually ride bikes to school, neighbors walk to the farmers market on Sundays, and you can push a stroller without training for a triathlon. The lots are generous, the homes range from charming ranch originals to well-done renovations, and the community feels genuinely connected.

If Lunada Bay is the ocean neighborhood and Malaga Cove is the architecture neighborhood, Valmonte is the family neighborhood. The schools are the same PVPUSD excellence, the location puts you close to Silver Spur shopping and the Peninsula Center, and you get more house for your money than the coastal blocks.

Real Estate

Valmonte typically comes in below Lunada Bay and Malaga Cove on median price, which makes it the smart play for families who want PVPUSD schools and PVE city services without paying the ocean-view premium. The homes are well-maintained, the lots are bigger than you'd expect, and the neighborhood has strong demand from families relocating within the Peninsula.

Schools

Soleado Elementary is the feeder school here — a strong K-5 that parents love. From there it's Palos Verdes Intermediate and then PV High School. Same Sea Kings pipeline as Lunada Bay and Malaga Cove.

Dining & Local Favorites

Red Onion

61-year South Bay institution. American and Mexican food. Everyone on the Hill has been here at least once.

Valmonte itself is residential, but you're a five-minute drive from Peninsula Center and the Silver Spur corridor — Red Onion, Terranea, and the South Bay's best are all close. And the PV Farmers Market at Peninsula High is practically in the neighborhood.

Community Pulse

The PV Farmers Market runs every Sunday at Peninsula High School — it's become the weekly gathering spot for the entire Hill, and Valmonte residents have the shortest walk.

The neighborhood is popular with young families and downsizers from the estate neighborhoods who want to stay in PVE.

Valmonte is where I steer families who tell me they want the PV lifestyle without the PV price tag. You still get the schools, the safety, the community — you just trade ocean views for flat streets and extra square footage. For a lot of families, that's the better deal.
